Technology, The Dual Catalyst

Technolgy has increased the depth and power of every resource on the planet, both for good and evil. With each generatiom, each existing tool becomes more influential. It only takes a very small group to acquire a technlogy, (let's say, the Hydrogen Bomb) to leave a very large dent on the planet. Of course, this would currently be next to impossible, but as each individual learns more tech, the impact each person has will grow substantially. This is balanced by economics a nd the fact everything has a counter to itself, but all it takes is a single major screwup to throw the usually controlled tech into the fray. Democracy is fueled by dissent, reform and change. Once disabling tech makes it to the mass media (Imagine mind-control.....) power will become concentrated among few. Imagine if I could press a switch that would destroy Continent X just by pressing it. Eventually chaotic progress will culminate in the wrong people having the wrong thing at the wrong time. Can it be stopped? No. Define "wrong people". It could be a screwup of a tech building the U.S. Weapons Net. All this theoretical stuff is being researched. Throw human error, entropy and the randomness factor into the mix, and you have some very lethal brew indeed. It's much easier to build a 5X more powerful weapon or 40X faster processor than to actually control this technology. But that's just it - methods at control will be ineffective, because, like all censorship, it will affect legitimate uses and the mere premise of it is self-defeating. A system to manage technology in an error-free manner cannot be implemented as the creators themselves are not error-free. Therefore, there will always be misuse of tech, and with the stakes getting larger every second. You might argue computers might be used. But aren't the circuits built by imperfect humans? Therefore the system must have bugs. To summarize:
- Technology will have increasing impact.
- Technology will always be misused by somebody.
- Error correction/ misuse prevention systems will always have a glitch.
- If the current rate of growth stays in effect, misuses of tech will cause more damage.
- Therefore, tech will bring our end.
